Pre-Sag

The SAG awards are currently being presented as I write this, and I cannot wait to start a best/worst dressed list! Before the actual awards, the pre parties ensued! One of my favorite looks came from Shenae Grimes at the Chateau Marmont Event last night . The 90210 starlet usually pushes the line, but this was creative, edgy and tasteful all at the same time. Theres nothing wrong with showing a little lingerie, especially when the rest of yourself is covered (in a wonderful maxi I might add). She looks dangerous and I like it.

Floral Chiffon

NYFW Fall 11' is about to show soon, and Paris Couture is showing now, but I am behind, still admiring SS11 that showed previously in September. I am finally getting over this winter weather...as the snow has pretty much ruined any tries of being layered chic. Bring on sunshine, pool reads and big hats! As for what to wear: Rebecca Taylor has everything I need. Light chiffon printed skirts are log and sheer. She added belts to a lot of her pieces and tailored shorts were on repeat. I am also extremely excited about the high waisted jeans. It's 70s everywhere, and I can't wait to channel Lauren Hutton. The see-through skirts also remind me of Carrie Bradshaw. She would work accessories in correctly and have the same perfect top knots that the R T models have. Make sure your undies are cute!

Mommy Dearest

Rachel Zoe and all of her baby-bump glory, well what you can make of it. She was out and about shopping, brunching and tanning with her attractive crew of helpers, hubby Rog and hair/makeup man, Joey. I love following her on twitter because she actually gives followers a tiny little look into her life outside of work. I also really love her hat collection. Major. Bananas. She's really going to die when she has this kid.

Yes, No and Maybe

The following looks from the past few days are huge yes' no's and maybe's. The shortest two Kardashian sisters have been taking NYC by storm doing promotional appearances and interviews for their new show. I have definitely favored Kourtney's taste over Kim's, and as of recently she has really come into her own. The high waisted skirt is the perfect light peach paired with the colorful abstract top. The opague tights set off the colors and winterfy it.
Next is the NO. Camille Bell is somehow everywhere, but at her Prada to Nada premier, she wasn't wearing very much. The Jason Wu bandeau top is lovely in all of its ruffle and her body is absolutely sick BUT I just can't really get into it. The tuxedo suit is also Jason Wu and I love love it. The jewelry is Cartier and I think it is a no as well. The itty bitty top is sort of growing on me, but still confused. She also supposedly stole Joe Jonas. Sing it, Taylor!
Lastly, the maybe. I admire Whitney Port in all of her fashion ventures. I really like her style because she mixes vintage, classic and quirky. She always looks fresh faced and effortlessly put together. I think her leopard flats are Lanvin, and I love how she mixed the print with the slouchy T and striped skirt. Its nice for spring, but I'm not ready for it yet due to the fact that its currently snowing.

Love Her Look

Laguna Beach alum, Kristin Cavallari, had her 24th birthday party in Las Vegas over the weekend. She partied at Bank which is located at the Bellagio. The exclusive lounge and night club is elaborately decorated with extremely large crystal chandeliers, escalators, go-go dancers and confetti pops on the hour. So major! I loved it when I went on Thanksgiving. This is a little on the skimp side, but it's sparkle, and everyone needs to sparkle on their birthdays!

Street Style

Think The Sartorialist. Every day girls (and guys) photographed because they literally just look cool. These everyday people were going to their prospective jobs or maybe to class, and took the extra effort to express themselves. Its artistic, yet has that comfortable ease of not trying to hard at the same time. Many different publications, in particular, Lucky, pick a street style look monthly to show readers. Many online fashion reads include street style sections as well. My favorites include StyleCastor.com and Fashionista.com. Although very European-esque, viewing the gifted style girls can really give one inspiration to try harder and have fun with everyday outfits. Cold winter months are definitely my favorite, because adding a felt hat, over sized scarf, distressed jacket or an extra layer is not only necessary, but chic.

Best/Worst Golden Globes 11'

I was beginning to think everyone's stylists had gone mad wile the first few minutes went by on the red carpet pre-show. Jennifer Love Hewitt and other less known ladies kept coming by and I was just like really?? Then it started getting exciting when Lea Michele came in ODLR pink flowing gown then Meg Fox in a sparkly Armani number. Then, my best dressed nominees finally arrived.
My first pick is Eva Longoria minus the Parker. Single girl has swag, and I give it to her for wearing such a 'tall girl' dress. Eva is a huge fan of Zac Posen and wears him often. The back cut out detail really gives it flair.
Next was the lady of the night, Natalie Portman. Her acceptance speech for best actress was really sort of awkward when she said, 'ya know he was the guy that said he wouldn't sleep with me, and he really wants to!". Her Victor& Rolf maternity dress isn'y what everyone had in mind, but it was very flattering. I was not a fan of the matchy red rose, clutch and shoes. The necklace was also too much. Now what will she wear for the Oscars..my bet is Dior.
Leighton Meester is next on my list in Burberry. This is also very different than anything she has done previously, especially at an awards show of this caliber, but I absolutely loved the long sleeves, the slit and the Louboutins.
We can forget Annie Hathaway in Armani Prive with all of Rachel Zoe's genius. Its a little bit mermaid, but the silhouette and back exposure is unforgettable.
Mila is also a very talked about nominee this season and she was on trend with emerald, an extremely popular color. She was in Vera Wang.
Last but not least, Emma Stone, was a dream in sherbet Calvin Klein Collection. Its minimalist and easy and I love it. She might have been a little too tan, but she worked it.
Honorable mentions go to Angelina looking sort of how she always does in the green trend in Versace, Tina Fey in velvet Lawren Scott, Piper Perabo looking less coyote ugly in Oscar de la Renta, Sandra Bullock (I can't decide if I love or hate her new bangs) in Jenny Packem.

Now the worst dressed ladies of the night were trying too hard, and should just go ahead a fire their stylists.
January Jones knows she't hot, and poor girl probably didn't eat for the entire week leading up to the GG. The red Versace was just showing too much for my taste, and would have been great for the Grammys.
Michelle Williams must've lost her mind and why did Valentino even make this dress? She is channeling Mia Farrow, and it must stop now. Remember when she wore the mustard Vera Wang to the Sag Awards? Please get back to that.
And lastly, Halle Berry lost heft half of her dress in the 90's. Yes, her body is out of this world. No, that does not look good.

Who's that girl?

No really. Emma Stone, with new platinum hair, was barely recognizable when she presented at the Critics Choice Awards. Wearing Balenciaga was a brilliant choice, as she more than sparkled. The chain link halter added subtle detail that brought the gown together. At first, I didn't know about her new do' for Spiderman, but now I am absolutely settled. Blondes do have more fun when they are so very nicely styled!

3 little letters

Jessica Biel is definitely one of the most striking women in Hollywood, but I do not admire her "tom boy" taste. Her monogrammed Louis Vuitton Speedy caught my eye as she carried her Chanel pumps. If you are going to carry Chanel, make it a 2.55, not in the form of shoes.

Plum Perfect

Being from East Tennessee, there are so many words that I have heard over the years from great-grandparents and older generations of my family that do not mean what they really mean. "Plum" would be one of them. Instead of the color, it means 'all around', 'totally' or 'down right'. An example would be, "Well, it is plum cold outside". As everyone knows, my obsession with Nicole Richie becomes deeper each time she wears something like this. I love the velvet texture, and the ease of the oversized dolmain sleeve. This looks very WinterKate, however, the one shoulder is Pucci. The shoes are indeed her design, and I need them pronto. I love the minimalistic vibes, even down to her plum-purple eye shadow.

Weekly Roundup

I am picking my favorite three looks I have seen this week. From celebrity gossip sites and style.com, the good, the bad and the ugly are photographed and uploaded daily. Everyone knows I worship Nicole Richie, who looks great on Lucky this month, and she was looking extra chic while out and about this past week. I love the denim shorts over tights look, and leopard is my favorite animal print (if done correctly). She has on her trusty Louboutins, as the red sole is becoming a little scuffed. She can effortlessly throw on oversized shades and her Chanel bag and look just perfect. I would wear this every single day if I could.

Second place goes to Leighton in a Missoni print dress and cardigan with Proenza Schouler booties and bag. Once again, less Blair and more Meestor. I really enjoy her taste, even though she sometimes goes too far (remember the blue satin cut-out bustier dress from Fashion Night Out..)

Lastly, Lauren Conrad was looking beautiful at the Covergirl anniversary party sporting darker locks and a lovely cream side tie dress with Jimmy Choo heels. I love her hair long, slightly tousled and darker-on-top-lighter-on-the-bottom. This is lovely, too, though. Very sophisticated without trying too hard.

The City Flat

I usually blog about things I hope and dream of owning one day, trends and just all around beautiful pictures. Today I am here to suggest a very important and urgent purchase: the Gap City Flat. I have Tory Revas that put blisters on my heels after working all day, not to mention every girl in the southeast has at least one pair, and Lanvin ballet flats that aren't exactly comfortable after hours of wear (but I will validate the purchase because 1. they are Lanvin 2. They are a gorgeous investment). After experiencing major cabin fever, I scraped my way out and fetched my baby sister for a quick lunch date for salad and a small sangria. We stopped by the mall and ran into Gap and I once again eyed their fold-up faux leather flats. I had seen them numerous times when stopping in for Tshirts and a sequin jacket purchase, but I never tried a pair on because their 6's are usually too large for my foot. Kristin has a pair and said just try them, and under major fashion girl pressure, I fell in. Not only did they fit, but they're the most comfortable flats I've ever owned! For 39.95, this cannot be passed up. Best of all, they fold up and fit in your handbag! They come in the following colors: isealle red, silver, charcoal, black, olive, lilac, crushed berry, ballet pink, brown and camel (my pick today). They have also added patent one in most colors for spring, so they are sure to stay around! I will post real life results once I wear them, even though I hate look-at-what-I'm-wearing blogs (sorry whatkatiewore.com). Enough product plugging. Just go get Gap's City Flat.

Model on Duty

Georgie May Jagger: youngest daughter to Mick and Jerry Hall who was born in 1992. The 5'7 it girl carried a Louis Vuitton campaign last summer and recently covered US Harpers Bazaar last month to add to her other Vogue covers. Can we say she's the next Kate Moss already? I can only hope that my Spring looks something like this. Vintage inspired, filled with soft flowy waves and a different hat for everyday. 70's everything, my favorite. The soon to be 19 year old Brit is here to stay.

Best Dressed

I stopped watching the People's Choice awards after Taylor Swift presented an award to Johnny Depp, and was so awkward I had to change the channel. I obviously checked the web today for red carpet looks and I was shocked to see Kristin Stewart looking amazing (with an even better looking date/boyfriend). Her hair was clean, fixed and she even smiled! Stewart had on a Reem Acra shimmery belted mini dress complete with Jimmy Choo heels. Incredibly impressed!

Look 4: Winter White

I was recently roaming around Vogue.com and I found a neat pictorial that showed Vogue's Senior Accessories editor, Filipo Fino, and her work wear choices for an entire week. Not only was each outfit completely perfect/brilliant, but each one could probably feed a small country. Each look showed Fino's impeccable taste and her supreme journalistic skills. Day Four was my favorite and consisted of: Gucci coat, sweater, and pants; Nina Ricci bag; Portolano gloves; Christian Louboutin fur boots. Fino was quoted saying, "I rarely dress head to toe in one brand, but I have to say that I truly fell for every piece of this Gucci look." I mean, I could fall for most Gucci pieces, too. Although the color palette is very similar, the textures and details make each piece so different. The winter Portolano gloves make her completely winter ready. The Nina Ricci bag is also long enough to be versatile and converts into a cross body. Lastly, and most importantly, the fur Louboutins make her look go beyond. A splurge like this could heat up your life your many snowy winters to come. A career like Fino's (not to mention her amazing outfits and perks) is something to dream about.

i've got you babe

Spring ad campaigns have already started, and I am loving Mulberry's! Lindsey Wixon, Nimue Smit and what appears to be Babe, have spent the day playing in a florist filled with beautiful hydrangeas (my absolute favorite) with fringey bobs, perfect satchels and magnificent shoes. The piglet really sets the mood.
